The Story Behind My Little Piggy Kiss Lock Purse

For the longest time, I'd wanted to create a collection of animal-themed kiss lock purses. I loved the idea of making something that was not only adorable but also practical for everyday use. Even though the idea had been sitting in my sketchbook for quite a while, I never found the right moment to bring it to life.

Until today.

This little piggy is the very first member of the collection.

The metal kiss lock frame is only 5 cm (about 2 inches) wide, which means every stitch had to fit into a very small space. Sewing such a tiny purse together turned out to be much more challenging than I expected. It took plenty of patience and a few careful adjustments along the way, but seeing the finished piggy made every bit of effort worthwhile.

What surprised me the most is how much it can actually hold. Despite its tiny size, this little piggy can fit more than 40 Japanese coins inside! Small enough to slip into a pocket, yet practical enough for everyday use.

Creating this piggy reminded me why I love making handmade pieces. Every project begins with a simple idea, grows through trial and error, and finally becomes something that can brighten someone's day.

This little piggy is only the beginning. I already have more animal friends waiting in my sketchbook, and I can't wait to bring them to life one by one. I hope this growing collection will add a little warmth, a little fun, and a little handmade happiness to everyday life.
